Big news for TV viewers! Set top box can be closed.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) made several changes to the rules for TV viewing earlier this year. Now one more rule has been applied to watch TV on the tray. TRAI has made KYC (know your customer) mandatory for DTH subscribers. Trai told all the DTH operators in the country that it is now necessary for KYC (know your customer) of the grandson's subscribers. Easy to understand, so much so that the KYC process for the TV cable will be exactly the same as the way the new SIM is taken.

Trai has told all the DTH operators in the country that they will now have to KYC their subscribers. The new TRAI rule will apply to both existing and new DTH subscribers. This KYC process is exactly the same as the KYAC before. For existing customers, the KYC has been given 2 years.

For KYC, customers will have to provide a copy of government-issued Aadhaar card, driving license, passport, etc. Cable operators have to KYC the customer before giving a new connection, after which the new set-top-box will start working. Now the DTH set-top-box will be placed at the same address that will be entered in the address connection application form.

The cable operator will send OTP to the registered mobile number to verify the identity of the customer, after which the set-top-box install process begins. If the customer does not have a mobile phone, they will need to submit an identity certificate. In addition, existing subscribers whose DTH connection is not linked to mobile number will have to link the number within 2 years. TRAI does not allow operators to collect location data through a set top box.
